Why is my vehicle not holding coolant?

Why is my vehicle not holding coolant?

Coolant is very important when it comes to keeping the engine on your vehicle cool. There can be a few reasons on why your vehicle is losing coolant. It can be caused by a slightly cracked hose, a hole in the radiator or issues with the water pump. A faulty coolant cap can also cause your coolant to disappear. The cap helps control the pressure within the cooling system by redirecting the coolant into the overflow tank. When the cap goes bad, it releases the coolant at a quick rate to the overflow reservoir. If you feel you may have cooling system issues give us a call and we can inspect the cooling system

What does the recirculation button do?

What does the recirculation button do?

Most vehicles have a recirculation button with the air conditioning controls in their cars. You may be questioning on when to use it; let's tell you when!  The best time to use the circulation button is during the summer on very hot days. The circulation button takes the air from inside the vehicle and recirculates it in the cab of the vehicle instead of pulling the hot air from outside. When it is very hot outside and the recirculation button is not on, it is pulling the hot air from outside and trying to cool it. When the recirculation button is on, it pulls the cooler air from inside. Using the recirculation function will help keep the car cooler and keep the wear and tear down on your air conditioning system. Why does my all-wheel-drive vehicle need the same tires?

Why does my all-wheel-drive vehicle need the same tires?

Why does my all-wheel-drive vehicle need the same tires? We recommend that all four tires are replaced at the same time. On all-wheel-drive vehicles the computer and differential work simultaneously to supply power to each wheel. If one of the tires is a different size than the others, the computer will take an incorrect reading and cause the differential to work too hard. If the vehicle is driven to long in this condition, it will burn out the drive train. Remember to rotate your tires to extend the life of the tires. Rotating the tires also keeps the tread wearing evenly and does not place strain on the drive train.  Give us a call today to schedule an appointment to check over your tires. Also, make a $15 donation to our school supply drive and receive a FREE tire rotation.

Do I need my wheel lock?

Do I need my wheel lock?

What is a wheel lock you may be asking? A wheel lock is a locking lug nut that contains theft-deterring sockets. To remove the locking lug nut, you must have the wheel lock and each set of wheels has its own key. This is a safety feature that prevents the tire, rim, and wheel from being removed from the vehicle. These locks are meant to deter criminals from stealing the wheels off your vehicle. If you are not sure where your wheel lock may be a dealership or manufacturer can replace it if you have the code for your wheel lock. You also can sometimes order a replacement online if you have the make and model of your wheel locks. Our auto repair shop can also remove the wheel locks from the vehicle. We use a special socket that digs into the metal grip on the outside of the wheel lock. This will cause damage to the wheel lock and will not be able to be reused.  If there is a wheel lock installed on your vehicle, please be sure to have it easily accessible at the time&n ... read more

What is the difference between the air filter and cabin air filter?

What is the difference between the air filter and cabin air filter?

What is the difference between an air filter and cabin air filter?  An air filter is a screen that essentially removes solid particles that can be harmful to humans. Particles such as dust, powder, pollen, mold, fibers, and germs. It cleans the air to be breathable and odor free for the driver of the vehicle. We recommend an air filter to be changed out every 15,000 miles to keep the air in the vehicle healthy to breathe.  You may be thinking; does my vehicle even have a cabin air filter? Not all vehicles are equipped with a cabin air filter. The cabin air filter gets rid of contaminants that are pumped into the cabin with the fans running. We recommend the cabin air filter to be changed out once a year and have a visual inspection completed every 5,000 miles.
