For towing and roadside service, I have no complaints. But I have AAA so I don't get ripped off. Their auto service is ridiculously high. I needed a radiator and was leaving for vacation the next day. Brought car in at 8 AM. They called at 1PM and said for $5000 they can fix my car right up. I told them replace the radiator. They kept pushing. Finally convinced them I would not pay for anything other than a radiator and I'd be in about 5 PM to pick up the vehicle. They said it wouldn't be ready until the next day. I told them that their loaner car would be at an off-site parking lot by the airport for the next 2 weeks. They called at 2PM and car was done. Called them about a sway bar. They quoted me a price of almost $500. A mechanic in Milwaukee replaced the sway bar and related for $130. Called about a transmission flush. They quoted $239 plus tax. Same mechanic on Milwaukee quoted me $110 for flush. Stay away. There are more honest mechanics out there. For a bit of inconvenience of driving 40 miles, I'll save myself over $100.
Thank you for the feedback as we appreciate hearing from our customers to further improve our services. We did get a chance to look back into your history and saw that the incident you were referring to was from 2/27/2017 (the last time you were at our shop). Although you came in just for a radiator at the time, we do provide a full safety inspection of each vehicle that enters our shop so our customers are fully informed/educated on their vehicle. During this safety inspection, we pinpoint concerns that we feel are necessary for the vehicle to get its maximum possible life. Therefore, I do agree that we would have called you to let you know of these concerns and give you a total price to of what it would be to get all the repairs completed, which is completely up to you like you stated. At the time, we quoted you a price of $1,704.92, which would have included multiple items from your safety inspection. When looking back at the safety inspection, the quote included removing and replacing your front struts (that were leaking), sway bar bushings (that were worn out), serpentine belt (that was bottomed out), and spark plugs (that were original and recommended by factory specifications to replace at 50,000 miles). It also included replacing your valve cover gasket (that was covered in oil/coolant), air filter (that was missing a clamp that held it in place), and put in new front marker lights, a rear marker light, and a license plate light (that were all burnt out). Lastly, it included a power steering service (which was low and visible dark), an oil change (that was shown as overdue in miles on the sticker and visible dark), and a 4 wheel alignment. At the time, our tech had taken pictures and felt that it was important to take care of each of these repairs and maintenance items to not only make sure your vehicle was running at its best, but would prolong the life of the vehicle. Moreover, at our facility to remove and replace sway bar bushings it does cost around $225 plus tax and not the stated $500. This is from the cost of the kit itself as well as the approximate ¼ hours it takes to remove and replace them. I do apologize that the information given to you was not correct. In addition, I can understand why you would choose to save yourself $100 as we all love saving money; however, our services are more extensive than the typical transmissions flush. Typical shops just do what we call is a “drain and fill” where they just drain part of the old fluids, leaving old contaminated fluid still in there, and fill the remainder with new. For our service we put a cleaner into the old fluid that cleans any suspended gum and varnish out of the system. Then we connect the lines directly to a pressurized system we have to push out the old fluid and replace with the only new fluids. Lastly, we install a conditioner to help revitalize the lubricated parts of the transmission. Then a test drive is completed to verify the car is up and running to standard. Not only do we provide more with the actual flush, but we have a top notch warranty of 30 months and 30,000 miles (whichever comes last) on all our repairs. Having this overall higher quality service and great warranty is the reasoning that our prices are slightly higher, but in most of our customer’s eyes is still justifiable. I again do see why you would feel that driving the 40 miles for a lower price is saving money; however, we guarantee that our customer service, high quality repairs, and warranty is worth the extra cash.
