A diagnostic to determine my alternator died cost me $200. No service or repair then quoted me $900 dollars to replace (alternator cost and labor). I may have less knowledge of auto repair than other folks, but I spoke to my brother who is an auto technician, and he confirmed my intuition that I was being ripped off. I did my homework and called additional auto repair shops with solid google reviews- sure enough, most were at minimum $400 to $500 less to diagnose and replace with new alternator. I would highly recommend going elsewhere for auto service.

I contacted Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing-Decorah Road on 03/05/2025 requesting an overall car inspection for my 2004 Honda Civic given its age to identify potentially problematic areas that would need to addressed in the future & for a noise coming from the rear. I had taken it to a different auto repair shop on 03/03/2025 & was quoted for over $2,000 worth of repairs to the suspension components. Mike in Service greeted me on initial contact in person & listened to my concerns. He explained their process for inspection & the documentation they provide to give me a detailed condition report of primary components. Mike & I arranged an inspection the next day. Upon inspection inspecting the rear & test driving it, the mechanic identified that the noise was caused by the exhaust hanger stretching due to the exhaust not having enough clearance under the rear bumper. Chief complaint #1 resolved by cutting the rear bumper to allow for more clearance. After that, the mechanic inspected the entire suspension of the vehicle, underbody, engine bay to determine any other areas of potential issues, which they did not. Mike contacted me to inform me of their findings & that they would be charging me for the inspection only as the repair was minimal. This saved me the $2,000 initially quoted by another shop & boosted my confidence in the vehicle that I have as a solid runner. Overall, I had an A++ experience with Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing-Decorah Road. Furthermore, they earned my business for future repairs based on their attention to detail & integrity. I would recommend them to family & friends.

I had my car towed after 10pm from campbelsport to cudahy, and the driver was very personable, and understanding that I had to wait for transport for.my wife and toddler. (Luckily both tow truck and other transport arrived within 5 minutes of eachother). At the destination, he was able to get the broke down car up into my parking space from the alley with ease. As is the case of tow truck drivers, I'd like to use him again, but hope to never have to.

Today I had trouble starting my car, and received very quick service from Tony at Bob's Main Street Auto and Towing. He was kind, professional, and patiently explained the cause of the problem to someone who knows very little about cars. Thank you!
